Background
According to the “Regional Plan for Infrastructure and Water Resource Management for 2021 - La Araucanía Region, Chile”, the main objective is to provide infrastructure services and water resource management in order to contribute to the improvement of the La Araucanía Region’s competitiveness, to the national and international positioning of the region, and to the enrichment and incorporation of factors such as sociocultural environment, quality of life of its inhabitants, regional dynamism and productive and economic innovation - with an emphasis on forestry and agriculture, the food industry, and tourism - which are all sustainable and value the ethnic components of the region.
In this regard, irrigation has become a key factor in the development of the agricultural sector, since it allows the diversification of production and an increase in crop yields. At present, this is particularly relevant, because water is a scarce resource that must be used efficiently, especially when it comes to an expansion of the irrigation area in a context of climate change. The Chilean law number 18,450 regulates private investments in irrigation and drainage, and so this kind of projects is funded through private investments and certain State contributions through Chilean organizations such as CNR, INDAP and CONADI. In this context, it is necessary to train specialized consultants for the presentation of these projects, which is the aim of this Certified Training Course.
Objectives
To train professionals in hydraulic works engineering for becoming skilled consultants and being able to present projects for irrigation infrastructure, which can be financed by law number 18,450.
To train professionals in the design of water intake and conduction systems.
To train professionals in the design of accumulation systems and related infrastructures.
To promote the design of associative projects that consider water user organizations.
Course Modules

MODULE 2: DESIGN OF TECHNIFIED IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
MODULE 3: ENERGY RATING SYSTEMS. HOME ENERGY RATING
Background
National thermal regulations demand the construction and/or improvement of houses with minimum standards in the design of the thermal enclosure. In 2015, the requirements started to get stricter because several Decontamination Plans were implemented by the Ministry of the Environment, in order to reduce the emissions of particulate matter generated by biomass combustion. Some of these plans' requirements focus on an adequate thermal enclosure for all buildings and construction projects. In addition, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is committed to ensuring that housing not only guarantees quality and durability, but also provides better conditions of comfort and living for all families, with the least impact on the environment. Therefore, it has implemented the Home Energy Rating System. In this context, it is essential that the professionals involved in the analysis, design and execution of housing projects are familiar with the technical concepts and regulations, in order to progress towards sustainability in the field of construction.
Objectives
To train the professionals involved in construction projects, by providing the theoretical and practical foundations that will allow them to analyze and evaluate the appropriateness of thermal conditioning strategies in accordance with the current requirements.
To understand basic concepts of the thermal behavior of a building.
To quantify the influence of the factors that define the thermal behavior of a building.
