MacroFacultad

About

The MacroFacultad of Engineering in Chile is an academic consortium composed of the Faculties of Engineering of the universities: Universidad de La Frontera, Universidad del Bío-Bío and Universidad de Talca, from the south of Chile. It was created in 2014, within the project “World-class Engineering at regional state Universities in the central-south of Chile”, with the support of CORFO (Corporación de Fomento de la Producción).

This inter-institutional and multidisciplinary initiative seeks to train world-class engineers in the medium term, based on a comprehensive training process and world-class engineering faculties that focus on technology development and transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship based on applied R&D.

This project will strengthen the regions through the continuous improvement of the capabilities and competencies of their human capital, R&D infrastructure and equipment, innovation and local entrepreneurship. All of this is based on the interaction between businesses, the MacroFacultad and the government, with an active participation of the society.

MacroFacultad of Engineering

To rise to this challenge, a training platform will be created based on student and academic mobility, which will allow the students to study the subjects of their interest at any of the 3 universities. In addition, joint programs for the training of human capital and research stays for scientific and technological development will be implemented, as well as projects that will result in goods, products and services with high added value and an impact on local, national and international economies.

The MacroFaculty will strengthen its role as an exchange agent for national and regional development in the context of economic, social and environmental sustainability, by contributing to the development in southern-central Chile in an outstanding way.
